Chimney shingles replace horizontal brick on the exterior of existing and new fireplaces. The warming and cooling of the fire place encourage moisture to be absorbed into the brick. If this moisture freezes, the bricks can be damaged. Chimney shingles, with the integrated drip groove, will protect the brick below.
